This cashmere kitchen belongs to some of our clients, a couple with two children, who wanted to inject a bit of life into the interior of their ‘70s apartment in Paris' 16th arrondissement. They particularly wanted to renovate the kitchen and open it out into the living space so that the Eiffel Tower could be seen from anywhere in the room.
With these goals in mind, the family called upon us to help create their dream cashmere colour kitchen.
A warm-toned cashmere kitchen
Our clients stressed the importance of kitchen colours being warm as well as bright, which is why we went for a cashmere colour kitchen. Cashmere - a warm white heading towards beige - was used for all the unit fronts, whilst the insides of the units were built in walnut.
This meant that when the retractable units were opened a touch of wood could be seen in the kitchen.
The retractable unit system, which we’d built into the kitchen, is also handy for hiding electrical appliances, for extra storage, for additional plug sockets and even to house a small coffee or tea area close to the bar.
A minimalist cashmere colour kitchen
Another clear message from our clients was that they wanted us to use the natural light coming into the apartment to create a bright, functional space.
We suggested using the FINE model from the Spanish kitchen brand Santos, which is a great choice for anyone looking to create a sophisticated, minimalist space.
The combination of integrated pull handles and a push opening system gave us a simple, no-frills finish in the cashmere kitchen. For the worktops, we opted for Arabescato Quartz, sourced in Italy, to add some texture.
A cashmere kitchen made for hosting
As the 15m² available allowed for it, we installed a bar in the middle of the room, creating a space which could easily be used to host. Built to be the same height as the wall-side base units and in the same Arabescato Quartz, the bar can be used both as an extra worktop or as a dining table. It’s a wonderful space to spend time with family or friends, all whilst taking in the breath-taking views of Parisian rooftops and the Eiffel Tower.
