Respect for the natural environment is vitally important for eba. As a result, eba chooses the partner brands it distributes with great care, ensuring that they share the same values and put the environment at the centre of their philosophy.
Products designed to stand the test of time
Kitchen cabinets are constantly subject to stress, including heat and humidity. Therefore, the quality of the materials is key to ensure they stand the test of time. The brand that eba works with – Santos, a Spanish kitchen manufacturer with more than 70 years of experience – performs countless tests to assure the performance and reliability of its cabinets, as well as reducing their weight and the volume of the materials used.
In fact, the brand has its own quality laboratory that enables it to measure different indicators such as the corrosion resistance of metal parts, the number of opening and closing cycles of fittings or even the load resistance of shelves. In terms of materials, to ensure the greatest resistance to daily wear and tear, marine plywood is used in all areas that are most likely to come into contact with moisture in the kitchen, such as the base and back of sink units and the base of fridge units, utility units and oven units.
The Santos Living range benefits from the same experience and each and every product is subjected to comprehensive controls and tests from the development phase to the last stages of the manufacturing process to create cabinets that stand the test of time, and thus, are more respectful of the environment.
The kitchen manufacturer also holds ISO 9001 certification, which shows that a quality management system is in place, and GS certification, which is proof of strict safety controls.
Cabinets with a smaller carbon footprint
Santos not only focuses on tests to assure the durability of its furnishings, the brand also makes certain of the origin of the raw materials it uses to create eco-friendly cabinets using sustainable materials.
Santos is also PEFC-certified for using wood sourced from sustainably managed forests. This certification confirms that all raw materials used in making its kitchen cabinets and the Living range come from forests that are managed with a view to long-term sustainability from an environmental, economic and social standpoint.
Aside from having a care with the origin of its raw materials, Santos’s commitment to the environment covers the entire process, starting with responsible manufacturing. The Santos factory is kitted out with a biomass boiler that efficiently produces primary energy with minimal emissions, as well as a solar panel system that generates clean energy. These initiatives earned it ISO 14001 certification, which attests to the development and implementation of an environmental management system.
The initiatives launched by our brands
When choosing the brands to distribute, eba ensures that they produce cabinets that show respect to the environment and that an environmental focus is among their core values.
Profim
In 2000, Profim obtained the certification for quality management systems to the ISO 9001 standard. Thanks to the use of green, cutting-edge technologies, responsible sourcing of materials, reduction in the amount of raw material waste and electricity consumption, Profim is a trailblazer in the development of eco-friendly furniture.
Amura
Thanks to the tireless work of its R&D department, Amura has developed a new material with which to fill its sofas. Instead of using carbon fibre like most of the brands in the sector, the firm uses linen fibre, which is two times lighter and consumes 10 times less energy.
Brokis
The innovative and eco-friendly practices of Brokis are embodied by the creation of BROKISGLASS, an exclusive and extremely versatile material composed of recycled glass fragments. This material breathes new life into glass, so it can be used in architecture and construction, as well as product design.
Gazzda
Respect for the environment is one of Gazzda’s most cherished core values and each of its products is FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council), ensuring that only wood from certified forests is used.
