A Food Videography Workshop
in the eba Haussmann Showroom

Students gathered around eba Haussmann showroom kitchen with lights and cameras, learning how to make videos

Recently we had the pleasure of hosting our very first food videography workshop in the eba Haussmann showroom, led by French food content creator Mélanie, or Les Recettes de Mélanie. An expert in food photography and videography, Mélanie taught the students how to captivate audiences with inspiring and engaging cooking videos.

The eba Haussmann showroom proved to be the ideal setting for the workshop, offering a pared-back, sophisticated video backdrop, and a full-size kitchen, complete with our innovate storage solutions.

Starting out with food videography: advice from Mélanie

Mélanie, better known on social media as Les Recettes de Mélanie, is a content creator who also shares her love for cooking by training people in food photography and videography.

"I cook everything, with a preference for foreign recipes. As a big traveller, I love discovering new flavours and recipes - I feel as though I'm travelling without leaving my kitchen."

Throughout the workshop participants received pearls of wisdom from Mélanie on topics such as the importance of not being held back by a lack of professional equipment, playing with light and, above all, practicing regularly.

"It's important to have dynamic videos if we want to retain the viewer’s attention until the end of the video on social media. That means you have to have movement in the shot and/or regular angle changes,” she pointed out. Her advice was immediately put into practice in our showroom so that the students could create impactful videos.

Food trends and content creation

We made the most of having Mélanie around to ask her about constantly evolving cooking trends. According to Mélanie, cooking trends will steer towards a more responsible way of cooking, emphasising zero waste, veganism and local produce. Mélanie also stressed the importance of cooking with natural, in-season produce, for both health and environment reasons.

On the topic of content creation, she added, "Regarding content creation, the trend that will continue in the following years is video. It's the perfect medium for showing a recipe and inspiring people." It's for this reason that the workshop focused on the foundational skills needed to make engaging cooking videos.

Mélanie chose the eba Haussmann showroom to host her workshop because of its refined aesthetics that encourage creativity. "It's a very aesthetic environment, and this aesthetic is essential for a professional finish in a video," she explained. The opportunity to directly interact with students and give a practical demonstration made the experience enriching and sociable.

To conclude, Mélanie shared her thoughts on the eba systems, underlining the importance of storage solutions in making everyday life easier. "I love cooking, but the biggest problem I have in my kitchen is the lack of storage," she said. "The plinth drawer units from eba are perfect for gaining space, and the retractable unit doors are also very practical. No need to worry about the open door as it can stay open without causing a problem," she added.

Overall, the food videography workshop in the eba Haussmann showroom was a true celebration of both art and food, bringing together creativity and a deep appreciation for good food. The participants were inspired to explore new ways of cooking whilst perfecting their content creation skills, using the fantastic advice from Mélanie.
