White kitchens are here to stay – minimalist, bright & timeless, they’re a must-have for many of our customers. Some of our favourite designs are white and wood kitchens, with wood bringing a touch of warmth to the space. Different types of wood will create different vibes in the kitchen, allowing us to create truly unique spaces that are personalised to each of our client’s tastes.
White and wood kitchen: a winning pairing
Pairing white and wood in the kitchen is always a success – warm, yet modern, a white and wood kitchen suits every style of house. A rustic wood kitchen can be given a vintage aesthetic with the addition of shell handles and textured wood such as rustic oak, whilst contemporary wooden and white kitchens work best with handle-less fronts and LED lighting. For a more modern, brighter look, smoother woods such as natural oak or light elm can be used.
Choose from a range of whites at Santos
A common worry amongst our clients is that their white and wood kitchen will end up feeling too ‘sterile’. We avoid this by using different tones of white, in either matte, varnish or silk finishes. At Santos, you can of course opt for a classic white, but also the matte Innsbruck White, the bright Pearl White - available in matte, shine or silk - or the matte Cashmere finish, which is the off-white shown in the above photo.
Decide which wood suits your white and wood kitchen
For the fronts, wall panels or dining tables, oak, ash, walnut or elm exude charm, creating a warm, inviting feel in your kitchen. The colour of wood you choose will depend on the feeling you’re trying to create in the space.
You should take materials into careful consideration when choosing your wood, as we heavily advise against using real wood for countertops and wall panels. Instead, we recommend a laminate or melamine with a wood effect. Real wood can be used for your dining table, although it will require a little more care and attention.
Inspiration: our projects
Wooden and white kitchen with bar
Unit doors were equipped with a ‘push’ system in this modern, Pearl White kitchen, resulting in a smooth, handle-less finish. Touches of wood were introduced via the melamine wall panel in a Light Elm effect, as well as a bar corner with a high table in a light elm veneer, complete with Gazzda wooden high chairs.
White and wood kitchen with retractable units
Wooden elements have been discretely added to this kitchen via walnut interiors that are only visible when the retractable unit doors are open. The kitchen can therefore be completely white - Cashmere, when all the unit doors are shut - or wood and white, when the unit interiors are on display.
Open-plan kitchen with wooden dining table
The owner of this large, open-plan Cashmere-coloured kitchen wanted to draw the eye to its wooden elements, hence the walnut dining table that takes pride of place in the middle of the room. There are also elements of wood in the main kitchen by way of the retractable unit interiors, fitted out in Vertical Earth Walnut.
White marble and wood kitchen
Another way to create a wooden and white kitchen is to use two different finishes for the fronts. Here, wall units above the cooking area have been done in Rustic Oak, whilst the base units are a Matte Silk White.
