An interview with
Monique Kamel on modern kitchens

At eba, our favourite projects are those that involve collaboration. We often have the opportunity to work with interior architects, whose opinions on design and interior decoration are always fascinating. Monique Kamel, founder of MK Interiors, is an architect we’re very inspired by, and someone whose values are absolutely in line with ours.

Creating timeless spaces

Space, light, warmth. Words, but also essential feelings in interior architecture. "Above all, what I look to do in every space I create is bring peace and make joy. I always prioritise comfort and togetherness so that my clients feel good in their homes. I like light, timeless spaces," explains Monique Kamel.

Monique draws inspiration from all over - she might find it in a piece a fabric, in an object, or even in a piece of furniture. Her work includes a wide variety of projects, both in France and abroad. "What's interesting is that I have to adapt to each client's lifestyle in their country, with their habits and customs. Projects aren't going to be the same in France as the US, so I never get bored."

A vision of an inviting, modern kitchen

Like us, Monique Kamel sees modern kitchens as inviting spaces - friendly and easy to live in, with tendencies towards minimalism. "For me, the kitchen needs to be a space where we feel inspired to cook, without being encumbered by useless gadgets. I love the mix of white and wood which, in my opinion, is a trend that can’t go wrong."

"In terms of materials, I particularly like to work with wood, lacquer and, most importantly, whenever I can, I’ll choose long-lasting, eco-responsible materials. That's what I appreciate about eba’s products."

We make it a point of honour to choose our partners with a view to their commitment to the environment.

"What I like most at eba are the breakfast spaces, whether or not they're built into retractable units. I wouldn’t hesitate to install one of these for a client if the opportunity arose!”

Another one of Monique Kamel's favourites is our wooden drawer interiors, "for their quality and clean lines".

eba projects with Monique Kamel

We’ve already had the opportunity to work on several projects together, such as the renovation of an apartment in Paris' 14th arrondissement. Together, we came up with a design for a closed L-shaped kitchen. We chose to use the FINE model from Santos in the Silk Pearl White finish, with handle-less fronts for a minimalist effect. We used Dekton for the countertop and backsplash, chosen for its durability and comfort. The result was a light, warm space, much like the majority of Monique Kamel's projects.

Our next collaborations with MK Interiors are already underway, including an apartment in Saint Cloud and another in Neuilly.
