Pastry chef Jeffrey Cagnes called upon eba to design a kitchen that would be used as his new masterclass space. The kitchen needed to be able to meet his high demands and facilitate his passion for sharing. The result was an elegant, welcoming kitchen workshop full of carefully considered details designed to support the chef in his day-to-day tasks.
A workshop built for sharing
Built in Levallois-Perret, just a few doors down from his shop, Jeffrey Cagnes' workshop is much more than a simple culinary lab: it's a space to meet others, to share, and to feel inspired. There, the chef organises patisserie courses in small groups of up to twelve, in a welcoming room bathed in natural light.
"I wanted to create this workshop to get closer to people, to share my knowledge and my passion", he explained. "I wanted a welcoming space, almost like a house".
The chef worked with eba to create a unique kitchen that matched his requirements. It needed to be warm and welcoming whilst remaining functional and professional.
A central island at the heart of the space
In the centre of the room sits a magnificent island of around 2.5 x 1m, extended by two side tables that allow guests to be comfortably seated. It’s built in Rustic Oak veneer, with a countertop in Perla Venata quartzite from Naturamia, which is as robust as it is elegant.
The chef told eba, "For me, an ideal kitchen starts with an island. It's a social space, where you can cook, learn, receive..."
The island was designed for maximum efficiency, with three drawer units, a V-ZUG hob with integrated extraction and prep zones that are accessible from all sides. Every centimetre of the room has been considered to best bring together aesthetics and functionality.
A pared-back light kitchen
The kitchen was designed to have a pure, bright, welcoming spirit. The lacquered unit fronts in Silk Matte Pearl White were paired with Rustic Oak natural wood to create a soft, contemporary feel. The LED lights, built-in underneath every shelf, elegantly highlight the materials used.
When it came to appliances, nothing was left to chance: a steam oven, microwaves, a fridge and a dishwasher from V-ZUG were all built into retractable sliding door units for maximum discretion.
"I just had to have a kitchen that could be opened or closed using retractable sliding doors. It's very chic and practical. It means that once we've finished and turn out the lights, it's actually as if the kitchen no longer exists. That's what I like about this kitchen," explained Jeffrey Cagnes.
A space built for creativity
The workshop was created to prioritise comfort and communication, with uncluttered worktops, a fluid layout and high-quality, sturdy materials that are pleasant to touch. The furniture, built to suit the chef's needs and ways of working, include several types of storage: column units with shelves, base units, retractable sliding door units and integrated recycling bins.
"The meeting with eba was effortless. They listened and helped me to make this dream of a kitchen workshop come to life. They immediately understood what I wanted: a space that was understated, bright, practical and, above all, welcoming", states Jeffrey Cagnes.
In this 28m2 space, our team knew how to translate the desires of the chef into a kitchen that was coherent, sophisticated and ergonomic. The final space allows the chef to work in ideal conditions whilst retaining a relaxed, professional atmosphere.
More than a simple interior project, Jeffrey Cagnes' kitchen workshop represents a shared vision of design and communication. In this space, where every movement becomes a performance, each recipe a moment to share, the kitchen becomes a stage.
