When designing a kitchen, the right choice of base units is absolutely crucial, as it will determine how functional the room will be and its capacity. Likewise, it also determines the characteristics and the layout of other elements such as the worktop, wall units and any other storage space. To create a kitchen that’s unique and tailored to everyday needs, the Spanish kitchen manufacturer Santos offers a wide range of base units with modular dimensions

Base units that adapt to users

While most kitchen manufacturers offer the option of adapting the height of the plinth, legs and worktop, Santos takes things one step further by letting users choose the height of the kitchen cabinets themselves for the project. This variable is combined with the width and depth to get the optimal dimensions, according to ergonomics and capacity criteria. This results in practical compositions that are tailored to user height, making the most of the available space.

Specifically, the drawers of the base units by Santos are available in three heights (84, 78 and 66 cm), five depths (35, 45, 60, 65 and 70 cm) and twelve widths (15, 30, 40, 45, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 105 and 120 cm). There are also base units with drawers with specific dimensions, in order to adapt to the configurations of each room. This is the case for corner base units, which come with a fixed interior organisation system, available in eight heights (98, 103, 108, 113, 118, 123, 128 and 133 cm) and corner base units with a mobile interior organisation system, which have widths ranging between 90 and 133 cm.

This wide range of measurements makes it possible to meet every need. On the one hand, deep base units are perfect for creating large work surfaces, and those that are less deep are extremely practical for small spaces. The latter can likewise be used as additional storage space on an island or to make the most of the available space in hard-to-reach areas.

Solutions for all kitchen areas

The range of base units by Santos offers specific solutions to different needs in each area of the kitchen.

Sink unit

Santos has 29 sink unit models, which suit the different heights of the base units and the users’ needs. To assure durability and resistance, the parts of these cabinets that are most likely to come into contact with water are made of laminated marine plywood, a material that’s resistant to moisture, detergents and wear and tear.

All models are available in two depths, 60 and 65 cm, and in different widths, from 45 to 120 cm, with the option to adapt it to a corner installation. Depending on the chosen dimensions, they can have one or two doors, two double drawers to store cleaning products and utensils and bins to recycle waste in the bottom or top drawer. If you go for this option, the sink unit comes with a lower intermediate panel between the two drawers to keep odours or water from filtering through, so you can store food in the bottom drawer with complete peace of mind. The bottom of the top drawer comes with an opening for the sink drain pipe, providing you with precious storage areas to make the most of every last inch of space.

Santos has 15 models of hob drawer units, with a depth of 60, 65 or 70 cm and widths starting from 60 cm. They’ve got space to integrate the hob (from 6.1 to 16 cm in height) which varies depending on the type of cabinet and the handles or drawers chosen, and come with a system that lets air circulate behind the cabinet to keep it from overheating.

Oven units

The range of Santos oven units has seven variants, with a depth of either 60 or 65 cm and a width of 60 or 90 cm, so ovens that are 60 or 45 cm in height can be integrated.

Designed by Santos, the plinth drawer units provide an additional tier of storage at the bottom of base units, maximising the entire height of the cabinet. These drawers can be combined with units that are 66 cm in height and are available in four depths (45, 60, 65 and 70 cm), three heights (24, 26 and 28 cm) and all widths from 45 cm onwards.

Sturdy cabinets that can be tailored to suit every taste

The base units by Santos kitchens are manufactured in numerous finishes to meet the specific needs of each project. From black to rustic wood, white or faux stone finishes, or even choosing between matt or gloss, the design of base units is completely modular, both inside and out.

All Santos kitchen cabinets – whatever their finish – are designed to stand the test of time. Thus, whether it’s melamine or laminate, the fronts have been designed to withstand splashes, heat and general wear and tear. Likewise, the hinges and handles of the fronts are inspected by the brand’s quality department to ensure their durability.
