Exceptional kitchen spaces require thoughtful design, practical layouts and the use of high-quality materials. We worked in collaboration with architecture studio inée to create a kitchen that had all three of these qualities, coming together to create an aesthetic but functional kitchen. The brief was to create a welcoming space that could be enjoyed by our clients and their two children, resulting in a kitchen with white, marble-patterned ceramic worktops and an oak-framed dining area.

Creating a striking space with marble-patterned ceramic worktops

Step through the mirrored doors of this kitchen and you’re immediately met with a side of base units housing the hob and sink. These units break up what would otherwise be a large open space and are topped with white ceramic kitchen worktops. The inée architects chose to use the FINE model from Santos for the base units, as their stripped-back, minimalist lines allow the marble-patterned ceramic worktop to really stand out.

Above the units is a large, suspended shelf in the same marble-patterned ceramic. The 5cm-thick shelf is useful for storage as well as for lighting up the worktop with its built-in LED lighting system.

Bringing warmth to the kitchen with a Natural Oak frame

Tall units installed on the opposite wall ensure that the kitchen is functional as well as aesthetically-pleasing, offering different storage options for electronic appliances and a built-in fridge, oven and microwave.

On the same wall is a large frame in Natural Oak veneer. This area brings warmth to the space and provides a welcoming area to sit and eat. Inside the oak frame are benches and a ceramic table - the perfect space to enjoy breakfast or read a book with a cup of tea.

Using light colours to make the space look bigger

A defining characteristic of this kitchen’s design is the choice of light-coloured materials. The marble-patterned ceramic worktops, shelf and dining table reflect the light and make the space look bigger. Natural wood pairs well with the white to help make the large kitchen feel friendly and warm.

The design also creates visual separation between the two spaces, creating different zones for each kitchen task.

This kitchen, conceived in collaboration with the studio inée, is much more than a simple space for cooking. Its considered design brings together light-coloured materials, refined lines and practical solutions to create well-defined spaces that are a joy to be in. Each detail, from the blocking of space to the pattern on the ceramic worktops, contributes to making this kitchen an example of high-quality design.
