This project, a modern Cashmere kitchen in a Parisian Haussmann apartment, was part of a complete renovation project undertaken by our clients. They wanted to modernise their apartment whilst retaining the original charm of the building, located in Paris’ 16th arrondissement. They were working with interior designer Monique Kamel, who called on us to help with the kitchen space.
A bright, contemporary white kitchen
As with many Haussmann apartments of the era, the original kitchen was a dark space separated from the rest of the house and not fit for modern living. Our primary goal for this project was to create a bright, pleasant kitchen for everyday use.
We designed and installed a modern Cashmere kitchen using the FINE model from Santos in Cashmere, with countertops and a wall panel in a marble pattern. The refined lines and smooth, handle-less fronts of the FINE model make it ideal for creating a sense of space, particularly when paired with a light colour such as Cashmere
Multifunctional contemporary kitchen
Our second goal was to create a room that was multifunctional. We installed a breakfast and coffee area in one corner, designed using our modular units. The open area provides space for a coffee machine and additional wall units provide extra storage. To add a touch of warmth to this modern Cashmere kitchen, we used Light Elm for the worktop and backsplash.
Washing and drying machines are cleverly tucked away underneath the countertop, and our clients can use the large dining table in the middle of the room as a work-from-home setup when needed. These additions to this contemporary kitchen mean that the space is now truly multipurpose.
A fully functional kitchen space
As the original kitchen layout wasn’t working for our clients, we installed the new kitchen in an L-shape. On one side you'll find the prep and washing areas, and on the other side the cooking area and refrigeration. There are also several storage wall units with built-in LED lighting to light the worktops.
To get the most out of all the available space, the owners chose to have units that extended up to the ceiling. They also opted for high-capacity full-extension drawers which offer a birds-eye view of their contents, paired with drawer organisation systems from Santos.
