Located nearby the emblematic Sacré-Cœur Basilica in Montmartre, our latest renovation project was the transformation of a 13m2 kitchen into a sophisticated, functional space, designed to meet our clients’ needs. With a magnificent view of the city and an abundance of natural light, this modern kitchen with wooden cabinets was a joy to design.

Designing with our clients in mind

The design for this bespoke kitchen with wooden cabinets was based around two principal requests from our clients. Having fallen for our smoked glass door units with built-in LED lights when visiting the eba Haussmann showroom, their first request was to have a glass wall unit of their own. We designed an American Walnut kitchen cabinet for them, complete with smoked glass doors, where they could display their coveted glass collection.

Their second request was to have a breakfast area to peacefully start their mornings. To fulfil this request, we re-arranged the layout of the kitchen, elongating the peninsula to create a small bar area for two people.

The choice of material was crucial in this project as we wanted to create a warm, sophisticated ambiance. Horizontal American Walnut ticked all the right boxes, bringing natural elegance to the kitchen with its aesthetic grain patterns. Each section of wood used for the veneer unit fronts is unique; the grain pattern in the wood will never be the same in another kitchen. Our wooden veneer unit fronts are made from very high-quality wood sourced from a sustainable plantation.

We installed a large 3-cm thick worktop in Silestone Eternal Calacatta Gold with a polished finish to complete the look, adding an additional level of refinement to the kitchen.

Keeping the kitchen minimalist but practical

As we were aiming for a contemporary, stripped-back aesthetic, we used ‘push’ opening systems with handleless unit fronts for the cupboards. Opting not to have handles reduced the visual elements in the room and allowed the wooden grain patterns to really take centre stage on the American Walnut kitchen cabinets. The result was a timeless, minimalist design that rendered the kitchen both functional and aesthetically-pleasing.

Through meticulous attention to detail, use of high-quality materials and an understanding of timeless elegance, the eba team were able to create a kitchen with wooden cabinets that oozed sophistication. At eba, we’re proud to transform our clients’ dreams into a reality and create living spaces that make the everyday that little bit easier.
