This white and wood open-plan kitchen by the eba Haussmann team is the epitome of elegance, comfort and functionality. The young couple owning the apartment wanted the 10m2 kitchen to be the heart of the home, where they could effortlessly cook, host and relax together.
An elegant kitchen with white worktops and wooden units
The challenge of this design was finding coherence across all three parts of the newly open-plan space, incorporating living, dining and kitchen areas. The eba Haussmann team designed the white and wood open-plan kitchen to have a fluid, balanced layout, and repeated materials throughout to create a clear, consistent aesthetic. A large island sits in the centre of the space, adding structure and creating a soft transition into the dining and living room areas.
The choice of materials and finishes was obvious – Vertical Earth Walnut for the base and column unit fronts, with its warmth depth and delicate grain patterns, and a soft Pearl White for the wall units. This combination creates a room that feels welcoming and bright, accentuated by natural light and the kitchen’s brass details.
High-quality finishes for premium comfort
The kitchen was built using the FINE series from Santos, characterised by its clean lines and thin, 13mm edges. Handles are hidden on both the Vertical Earth Walnut wooden cabinets and the Pearl White wall units, using a mixture of integrated pull handles and a push opening system. The result of this is an open-plan kitchen with a clean, minimalist aesthetic.
The ceramic, 2cm-thick Marble Gold worktop from Laminam is extremely resistant, and adds a subtle mineral element to the white and wood kitchen. The white worktop reflects the light and accentuates details such as the Bradano Ceno Gold tap with a built-in soap dispenser and a gold brass finish.
The eba design style is also apparent in the kitchen’s finer details, such as the LED lights built underneath the wall units and floating shelf that illuminate the space and offer a softer, ambient lighting option for evenings. The floating shelf is simple but striking, providing space for jars, books and plants to be displayed, demonstrating the link between functionality and design.
Achieving continuity across the open-plan kitchen and living room
As the kitchen and living areas are part of one open-plan space, it was essential to create a clear, coherent aesthetic. The low TV unit is made in the same Vertical Earth Walnut as the kitchen's base units, ensuring visual continuity between the two spaces.
Around the central island the Elin chairs from The Masie, with a light terracotta fabric and a thin black frame, soften the space, and work well with the warm tones of the wooden kitchen cabinets. Their darker frames echo the black furniture and decorative objects used in the living room, adding further visual coherence to the space.
The ambiance of the white and wood open-plan kitchen is relaxed but sophisticated, with high-quality materials and simple shapes working together to create an appealing final design.
A white and wood open-plan kitchen with plenty of storage
The kitchen’s central island features hidden storage, including plinth drawer units exclusive to Santos. Built instead of traditional plinths, the drawers make the most of all available space. The island’s generous white worktop also enables two people to comfortably cook, eat, or host together.
The white and wood open plan kitchen is fully equipped, with a built-in downdraft extractor, an oven, a microwave, a refrigerator and a dishwasher, ensuring everyday comfort and performance without disrupting the clean aesthetic.
A smart, practical kitchen
This open-plan white and wood kitchen encapsulates the eba philosophy to create living spaces that are both beautiful and practical, without compromising on quality or function. Every material, colour and lighting choice contributes to the creation of a kitchen and living space that feels good to be in.
